The Davis Index Week 7

Next week will be a large one since it’s going to be the halfway mark power rankings which will also include some team needs as we approach the trade deadline (Tip for Maggs: It’s on 11/8 at noon).

1. For the first time, all season, The Rookie did not score above the league average, but he faced Pat and Marty with 1 QB, so he won.
2. Ride or Dies finished with the lowest score of the week for the second consecutive week, and last week was the third scoring period in which the team finished under 100 points.
3. The average score was up nearly 3 points from last week thanks to monster weeks from MMCB and All Fired Up.
4. GFY has had two consecutive weeks of scoring above the league average since they started 5 consecutive below.
5. In a truly stunning revelation, Vonteego Cross has the most points allowed and the least amount of points scored, leading to a point differential of nearly -215 points so far this season.
6. The Rookie and No Bobby No’s magic numbers are down to 4 and will be down to 2 with a win this week.

Random Player Facts
1. Alex Smith is number 1 player in PP this year.
2. Carson Wentz and Dak Prescott, 2 second year NFC east quarterbacks are 3 and 4 at QB’s
3. Josh McCown is 1.3 points away from being a quarterback 1 this season. YES JOSH McCown
4. The Trojans have 2 top 4 running backs this season (Gurley and Gordon)
5. Todd Gurley has more points the Lamar Miller and Demarco Murray (both top 20 running backs) …COMBINED
6. Ride or Dies does not have any Running back 1’s based on points scored this season, or RB 2’s, or RB 3’s for that matter.
7. Amari Cooper had more points than the second and third wide receivers of the week combined.
8. A top 10 wide receivers from last week that scored more points than Antonio Brown last week is still a free agent (Travis Benjamin).
9. Tyreek Hill is the number 2 overall wide receiver this season.
10. 6 of the top 7 Flex options are running backs and The Trojans have 3 out of the top 5 flex options this season.

“Liar” by: Mike Ortiz

The history of humankind is strewn with crafty and seasoned liars like Joe Demayo. Many are criminals who spin lies and weave deceptions to gain unjust rewards—as the financier Bernie Madoff did for years, duping investors out of billions of dollars until his Ponzi scheme collaps. Some are politicians who lie to come to power or cling to it, as Richard Nixon famously did when he denied any role in the Watergate scandal
Sometimes people lie to inflate their property. Even academic science—a world largely inhabited by people devoted to the pursuit of truth—has been shown to contain a rogues’ gallery of deceivers, such as physicist Jan Hendrik Schön, whose purported breakthroughs in molecular semiconductor research proved to be fraudulent. Mr. Demayo lied. Mr. Demayo is a liar. Mr. Demayolied in order to deceive his friends into getting what he wanted under false pretenses. Mr. Demayo has lied to most of us at one time or another. There was the time he told Mr. Onofrio he was going to New York. He wouldn’t say why and ended up coming home dating the girl that Mr. Onofrio was talking to. There is the ginormous lie where he tells every one he never slept with HKR. How did we learn about your “oh yea, oh yea, oh yea” during sex, or your uncircumcised penis? I am sure there are more lies, but I am only here on a quick 15 minute break from work.
Mr. Demayo knew full well what Vonteego Cross’s intentions were in this recent trade. We told him numerous times that we were looking for 2 keepers. He even told us (verbally) that Fuller was drafted in the 14h round (implying keeper eligibility). Withholding truth is just as bad as lying. Lying to friends is a despicable thing to do. Some people just can’t help themselves.
Vonteego Cross accepts responsibility for the outcome of this trade. We should have done our due diligence instead of trusting a friend. At the end of the day, the Fantasy Gods are always watching and are all knowing. They will make sure justice is served and a penance is paid.

The Davis Index Week 6

The Davis Index
1. The Rookie is still the only team to score above average every week this season.
2. The streaks are broken, Team GFY scored above the average for the first time this year and MMCB finally faced an above average opponent
3. The combined league scores were down ½ a point from last week.
4. The average score is 136.8 points per week this season.
5. The average points for teams eliminated from the island is 94.9. Note: If you take out All Fired Up’s historic week 1, the average goes up to 101.6.
6. Starting this week, we will look at magic numbers (the Rookie and No Bobby No’s magic number are 5, which means that both teams can clinch playoff spots as early as November 5th.

Random Player Facts
1. CJ Beathard and George Kittle played together as Iowa.
2. In our weekly DeShaun Watson update, he is now the number 1 QB in PP.
3. Ryan Fitzpatrick was the fifth ranked qb in scoring last week.
4. Alex Smith has outscored Kareem Hunt by .1 point.
5. The top 4 rbs so far, this year are all on rookie contracts (Hunt, Gurley, Fournette, and Gordon).
6. The difference between Kareem Hunt (143.5 points) and the number 12 rb Duke Johnson is more points than Frank Gore has on the season.
7. The much-maligned Carlos Hyde is the number 6th ranked rb averaging 16.2 points per game, just ahead of Ginger’s favorite player (Chris Thompson).
8. The last time Adrian Peterson had a rushing touchdown, David Bowie and Prince were still alive.
9. The last time Adrian Peterson has two touchdowns in a game, Chip Kelly was still with the Eagles and Ryan Fitzpatrick had won 2 offensive player of the week awards in three weeks for the Jets.
10. The patriots and the Packers are the only teams to have two top 12 wrs this season.
11. Devin Funchess and Nelson Agholor have outscored Julio Jones on a points per game basis (along with total points).
12. Cameron Brate has scored a touchdown and had at least 4 catches in 4 consecutive games.
13. Despite being suspended for two games, Austin Seferian-Jenkins is a top 12 tight end. Maybe we all should stop drinking.
14. The Jags DST is a top 12 rb and top 13 WR. It would also be a top 3 tight end and has more points than Roethlisberger, Winston, Tyrod, and Bortles.
15. 10 kickers had 10 points or more this week led by Ryan Succop’s 21 points (Sorry Gingers) For the record, that is more than my starting qbs had COMBINED
Bonus Fun Fact: Ride or Dies just added someone named Joe Callahan that looks like he should be selling brake pads to Zalinski Auto Parts rather than playing quarterback in the NFL.
Isn’t it fitting that Ride or Dies was kicked off the island because of Bar(r).
Matchup of the week: Vonteego Cross vs All Fired Up in a must win for both teams. The Closest matchups are a couple of battles of 3-3 teams with MMCB facing off against Team GFY (battle of the ended streaks) and The Monstars vs The Ginger Snaps.

The Davis Index Week 6

1. The Rookie is the only person to have gone 5 for 5 with scores above average so far this season.
2. Ginger Snaps and the Trojans are tied for second, while GFY still hasn’t had an above average score yet this year.
3. MMCB still hasn’t played an above average opponent this season.  I wonder how long this will last.
4. Ginger Snaps tie breaker over Ride or Dies at this moment is .1 points.
5. The Romosexuals have played the hardest schedule by both Davis Index (4 above average opponents) and total points.

Stupid Facts

1. Deshaun Watson is the number 3 ranked qb, behind Brady and Alex Smith.
2. Duke Johnson is the 7th ranked rb this year, while Dalvin Cook is still 14th (damn he was good)
3. Ride or Dies has two top 5 wr’s (Hopkins and Hogan), Who would have thought that Brother
4. Jason written is the number 4 tight end despite 2 game where he hasn’t reached 2 points this season
5. The FLEX rankings are as follows (3 RBs, 3 WR’s, 3 RB’s, 3 WR’s)
6. The Jaguars DST is number 1 and has more points than the number 7th ranked RB.
7. Greg Zuerlein has more points the Dez Bryant and Doug Baldwin

The Davis Index Week 5

1. Great week for The Rookie, as not only did he get his third win of the year, he took over the total points scored lead in the league, and is the only team to score above the league average every week this season.  It is clear he is one of the elite, if not the best team in Pussy Palace right now.
2. The Romosexuals are the only team to have faced an above average team every week so far, this year.
3. The Monstars have faced the most points so far, this year followed by the Romosexuals
4. DTA came back from the dead (one of the lowest scoring teams entering week 4), with the first 200-point output of the season.
5. The easiest schedule so far continues to be Mean Machine, they have not faced an opponent with an above average score yet this year and have faced the least amount of points this year (followed closely by Team GFY).

Stupid Fact: As of Tuesday morning, three sites (Yahoo, CBS, and ESPN) had credited the fumble on the final play of MNF to three different players.

Power Rankings

With the Season (including playoffs) a quarter of the way complete, I decided to take a shot at Power Rankings.  Note: I value total points for nearly as much as I do record because you can’t control what your opponents does.

1. The Rookie-If it wasn’t for a Hurricane, the Rookie might be undefeated.  Despite having two major injuries (Julian Edelman and Greg Olsen), The Rookie is the leading point scorer this year.  He has been helped by 1Q fantasy MVP, Kareem Hunt and three top 12 WR’s in Keenan Allen, Tyreek Hill, and Adam Thielen.
2. No Bobby No-The Undefeated league runner ups are second in points scored and tied for second in consistency.   The team is undefeated thanks mostly to Russel Wilson and 30 points games from Michael Crabtree and Larry Fitzgerald.  They should be in for a tough test this week against the defending league champions Ride or Dies, and having several core players are bye.
3. The Romosexuals-Despite facing the toughest schedule, this 2-2 is consistent across the board.  With the two Matt’s at qb (Stafford and Ryan) and benefiting from Ezekiel Elliot doing his best Tom Brady impersonation this team looks like a sure-fire playoff contender. This team also has the number 1 and 4 wrs in fantasy in Diggs and Green.
4. The Trojans- One of the most consistent team’s year in and year out, The Trojans looked poised to be making a run.  Led by comeback player of the year Todd Gurley (never forget that Vonteego Cross kept Brock Osweiler over him), and an elite wr corps, The Trojans are an extremely dangerous team. The one weakness on this team is Joe Flacco who is clearly NOT ELITE, no matter what the Super Bowl Ring says
5. Ginger Snaps- I LOVE this team when Luck gets back.  TY Hilton is a clear number 1 when Luck is on the field and the team has solid production throughout the lineup.  Tough decisions on players such as Isaiah Crowell and what two qbs to start since Goff is a legit breakout so far will be issues for Murphy and Ginger.  Also, when healthy, CJ Anderson is a top 15 rb.  This team has depth and talent, but start/sit decisions are essential to their success.
6. Ride or Dies-  6 and 7 are interchangeable to me, but Ride or Dies get the nod for being a two-time champ and being a little more consistent. Ride or Dies have the two best qbs in the league by far, and two top 10 wrs.  The RBS are the true concern with Woodhead injured, but relief might be on the way with Doug Martin and Latavius Murray.  This team is on the rise.
7. DTA-the team with the highest score of the season so far, has some talent across the board.  This team has many tight ends as qb’s and nearly as many tight ends as rbs.   At least they benefitted from Mr. Kissing Titties getting his first start on Monday. Fournette has been a STUD so far and looks like a consistent contributor for this team.
8. Mean Machine- This team has 3 of the top 6 qbs so far, this year.  Despite that, this Giants heavy team has underperformed so far this season.  The WR’s have been the biggest disappointment for this team this season.  Despite this, adding Cohen was a huge addition giving them three top rbs when Ty Montgomery is healthy. Trading for a second elite wr and getting Beckham healthy would go a long way for this team.
9. Team GFY- If Carr is out a while this team, might be in trouble.  Murray has been underwhelming and they have a very volatile wr group.  Travis Kelce is an anchor for this team and will need to perform well for GFY to get a playoff spot.
10. Vonteego Cross-Despite the 1-3 record, Vonteego Cross has had some great players…until this week.  Dalvin Cook tearing his acl is bad for a once solid starting rb duo. Thankfully, they could get Lamar Miller low before his breakout game.  Also, the most consistent wr on this team has been DeVante Parker. This team must make a trade for some depth (which they are looking to do) if they hope to compete this season. Jay Cutler has been one of the worst qb’s on a ppg basis this season.
11. All Fired Up-On Paper this looks like a good team. Unfortunately, Christian McCaffree and Joe Mixon have been underwhelming and Andrew Luck not getting his surgery when he should have has crushed this team (so have the Oakland Raiders). This team will get better, but it might be too little too late.
12. The Monstars-Losing David Johnson has crushed The Monstars.  They were built on David Johnson and an elite wr group and this team has neither.  Amari Cooper has been the biggest bust so far this season while Dez and Alshon have been number 2’s.  The lone bright spot early on has been the play of DeShaun Watson, who is the number 7 qb so far this season.

Most Interesting Game this week might be The Monstars vs. Vonteego Cross.  It very well might be a loser leaves town match only 5 weeks into the fantasy season.

Teams off the Island

Week 1. All Fired Up

Week 2. DTA (Kevin couldn’t live much longer without his #BDBN brother)

Week 3. The Monstars

Week 4.  Mean Machine
