Playoffs

By: Thomas Davis

A Few Quick Notes as we begin the Playoffs

It was a crazy week 13 with everyone involved in some way and everyone having to pay attention to Monday Night Football because apparently 191 games is not enough to decide our seeding.  Our reigning champion, the only two time champion in PP History, All Fired Up sweated it out and survived as an 8 seed. Unless there is a scoring correction, I lucked into a playoff spot thanks to Chuck Pagano not wanting to embarrass the Jets even more. Center of Attention is the hottest team in the league! Congratulations to Hailmary to the Kings on winning the regular season title.  They won $400. You guys were one of the two best teams all season long and both teams battled to the very end to decide who would take home the crown. The Trojans fell 10.5 points shy of winning the title.

As we start the playoffs there are a couple of reminders I would like to bring to everyone’s attention.

• A Stat Correction can happen through the following Saturday, and ESPN does that automatically.  With the closeness of some matchups, it really is not finalized and anything can happen. Please do not get angry or blame anyone (other than Chuck Pagano).
• Our rules do not prevent eliminated teams from utilizing FAAB to acquire players. They still have consolation matchups. However, I will take a screen shot of the remaining FAAB after week 16 has been completed.  All teams will be able to roll over their remaining budget and add it to next year’s money per the league rules.
• Keeper Rosters have been locked.  If you would like to see where players were drafted, the Google Draft Board is still available. You can see all of the transactions involving a certain player on the ESPN Site to ensure he was not dropped.
• In the past ESPN has not reseeded teams like Yahoo does. It has been a straight bracket, so if there is an upset in round 1, do not expect the playoffs to be reseeded.
• ESPN has the Murphy bracket set up as 9 vs 10 and 11 vs 12.  This is how they do it so we will continue to operate in this manner.
• Prizes-1200 for Playoff Champion, 200 for runner, 3rd place gets the money in the bank, and the winner of the consolation brackets gets the choice of picks between 2 and 11.

On a personal note, this weekend and especially last night was why this league is great.  We argue about RULES and other senseless crap, but the members of this league are fantastic.  Multiple league members stayed up watching an absolutely garbage game, being in the group chat until the very last whistle, because they enjoy this league and genuinely like most of its members. I do genuinely feel bad for Gambs and Sarno, but I want to thank all of you for riding out the crazy last 13 weeks with me.

Monday Morning Playoff Scenarios

By: Thomas Davis

#1 Seed

Hailmary to the Kings win the #1 seed unless TY Hilton and Adam Vinatieri combine for 46.1 points, and they outscore Brandon Marshall by 28.8 points in which The Trojans will win.

The Rest of the League

The Romosexuals-Result doesn’t matter for this team; they are watching the score board to see if Moncrief scores 2.6 points. If he does then this team is guaranteed the 3 seed with DTA’s loss.

DTA-With a loss, they prevent themselves from getting the three seed, but they can do no worse than 6. They can be the 6 seed if Moncrief doesn’t score 2.6 points and Luck doesn’t get 11.1 points.  Most likely they will end up in the 4-5 game playing…

The Monstars- Right now they are the 3 seed but with Moncrief still to play, Center of Attention will likely continue his hot streak post elimination.  This team can be as low as 6 if Luck does not perform and All Fired UP wins. They are most likely in a nice 4-5 matchup.

All Fired Up-He is hopeful that Luck screws up, and he escapes with a win, but unlikely to happen. Chuck will be a Colts fan tonight? This team at the moment is projected as the 8 seed, but will he hold on?

Vonteego Cross-Patiently waiting on Luck, if he scores 11.1 points, VC makes the playoffs as a 7 seed. If Luck doesn’t perform, they are headed to the Murphy Bracket

No Bobby No- Trying to hold to a win against The Trojans, if they win they are in, most likely as the 6th or 7th seed. If they lose they are done. 28.8 points ahead with Marshall versus Vinatieri and Hilton, but Hilton and Marshall have both missed practice time this week.

GFY-Right now they are projected out of the playoffs by 4.9 points. They either need Enuwa to go off for 15 points or they need Luck to not show up and Vonteego Cross to lose. They can also get in if The Trojans makes a comeback against No Bobby No.  Many ways to get, but they are currently on the outside looking in

Rookie-He won so he did his part, now he needs two out of the following teams to lose in order to get in, No Bobby No, Vonteego Cross, and team GFY. That would clinch him as the 8 seed.  The chances of that happening are less than 50% and truthfully his best shot is a shootout with Hilton and Matt Forte (Romosexuals) going off. Other thing would be Luck getting hurt and Scott Tolzien or Matt Forte going crazy.

MMCB-Still Alive, they need Vonteego Cross, No Bobby No, and Team GFY to lose.  Very Unlikely, but then the final 2 playoff spots would be The Rookie and MMCB.

Playoff Scenarios

By: Thomas Davis

The playoffs are one week away and every team has something to play for. Whether you’re fighting for your playoff lives like the 5-7 teams or you’re going for the number 1 seed, everyone needs a win. Ginger is trying to continue his fantastic run after being eliminated and spoiling Eric’s quest for a number 3 seed. The playoff scenarios will be broken into tiers below.

Quest for the top seed

The Trojans currently have a weak grip on the top seed over the number one seed.  The Trojans can lock up the number one seed by having the same result as Hailmary to the Kings and not being outscored by 19.2 points this week.

Hailmary to the Kings can grab the top seed with a win and Trojans loss or outscoring the opposition by 19.2 points.  These teams have been the best all season.

Quest for #3 seed

The Romosexuals, DTA, the Monstars and All Fired Up are in the next tier.  All Fired Up are actually in two tiers because going into week 13, they can qualify as the three seed or be out of the playoffs. Below is what each team needs to do to get the three seed.

The Romosexuals-A win and not being outscored by DTA by more than 63.3 points gets him the number 3 seed.

DTA-A win and a Romosexuals loss or a win and outscoring the Romosexuals by 63.3 points locks up the number 3 seed.

The Monstars-The third best team all season based on points scored, The Monstars need to win and the two teams above them to lose in order to get the number 3 seed.

All Fired Up-Winners of 4 in a row, All Fired Up is the hottest team in the league.  They would need the three teams above them to lose, along with a win and outscoring The Romosexuals by 27.7 points.  Sounds crazy, but it can happen. Of course All Fired Up can also miss the playoffs and that leads me to the

Desperately Trying to Avoid the Murphy Bowl

All Fired Up- In what amounts to a loser leaves town match, All Fired Up plays Vonteego Cross this week.  All Fired Up gets in with a win or losses by either, No Bobby No and Mean Machine. He can also get in based on points but would need to outscore No Bobby No by 48.6 points or Mean Machine by 74.6 to do it that way. Easier way is to just win.

Mean Machine- If they win they are in because they would need to be outscored by 133 points by one team amongst other things in order to not make it.  They are playing Hailmary to the Kings who they only lost to by 10.2 points last time.  If they lose, they will need help from the other 5-7 teams, needing at least 3 other teams to lose their matchup in order to get in.

No Bobby No- At one time considered an elite team by BDBN, this team has really suffered due to mismanagement.  Surprisingly, they are still in a win in their in situation because they would need to be outscored by Team GFY by 107 points to get in. The only slight hiccup is that they could lose the final spot to All Fired Up, if Vonteego Cross wins and All Fired Up outscores No Bobby No by 48.6 points.  They are playing the Trojans who beat them by 2 points in Week 2. If they lose

Vonteego Cross- The last team with a win and in situation because if they win they are nearly guaranteed to have a spot over All Fired Up.  They would need to be outscored by Team GFY by 73.7 points in order to not make it with a win.  With a loss they would need a high score and all the teams around them to lose.

Team GFY- They need losses by 2 of 3 teams ahead of them and a win in order to make the playoffs. They can also outscore teams by 70 plus points, but it is highly unlikely to survive that way.  They play The Romosexuals who have extremely difficult wide receiver matchups, but they are without Demarco Murray, their best player this season.

The Rookie-Started off lucky and is now the coldest team in the league. They would need a win and a loss by 3 of the 4 5 win teams in order to make the playoffs. While possible, I think it’s unlikely.  The Rookie has gotten healthy, but investing so much in Jamaal Charles was a huge mistake.  The Rookie is projected to win and is Kevin is worried because he has been snake bitten by teams putting up massive weeks against him this year.
